11 January 2022

Is Moo Tri going to be your first ever tri? Congratulations! Welcome to the world of triathlon. We guarantee you'll be hooked!

Did you know that 40% of you will be taking on your first Mooloolaba Tri at this year's event? We're so excited to welcome you to #TriTheBeach at this iconic event, at the home of Australian triathlon.

We want you to have the smoothest race week experience so you can enjoy all your hard work, so we've broken down the 'how-to' for you. Prefer an in-person experience? We have Event Information open from Friday to Sunday, a Transition Help Desk plus First Timer Transition Tours and First Timer Q&A's to answer all your questions (and we promise there's no such thing as a dumb question!). Check out the times and locations for these at the event schedule here.

First thing's first... familiarise yourself with our Festival Village below.

What's in my race kit?

MooTri22 RaceKit

Your race kit will include:

  1. Race Bib Number (Compulsory Run Leg) – You’ll wear this during the run leg. We’d recommend attaching it to a race belt that you can clip on ready to go, otherwise pin on to your front with safety pins.
  2. Athlete Wristband – you will need to wear this at all times to access athlete areas.
  3. Tattoos -
    a. Number Tattoo (individual athletes and team runner only) – place this on your right bicep. If you’re wearing a sleeved trisuit, you can place this on your forearm.
    b. Category Tattoo (standard individual athletes only) – Place on your left calf
    c. Don’t panic if you misapply your tattoo. Please see the Event Information Staff who can assist!
  4. Coloured Swim Cap (Latex Cap)
  5. Gear Bag – if you wish to use gear drop, this is the only gear bag accepted. Place any items required for post race in here (warm clothes etc. - we don't recommend leaving any valuables)
  6. Bike Seat Post Number Sticker – place this around the seat post of your bike with the number facing outwards. Please do this before heading to bike racking.
  7. Helmet Number Sticker – place sticker on the front of your bike helmet. Helmet check is on race morning – you do not need to bring it to bike racking.
  8. Bike Pump Sticker – place sticker on your bike pump to drop off on race day.
  9. Gear Bag Sticker – attach this to the strings of your gear bag

Your timing chip will also be located in your race kit – please keep this somewhere safe!

Teams

Your race bib number, number tattoo and category tattoo should be worn by the runner. Each team member will receive their own wristband and gear bag at Check-In.

Okay i've checked in... Now what?

Bike Racking

Head to the Transition precinct located at Parkyn Parade Park with your bike at your selected check-in time. If you are in a team, only one team member should rack the bike during your pre-booked time.

Please ensure you have already secured your bike seat post sticker. You do not need to bring your helmet.

Upon entering, AusTri will conduct a bike check and you will be directed to where to rack your bike based on your race category.

Rack your bike by the handlebars. Nothing else should be left overnight. No full bike covers will be allowed for overnight racking. Try to memorise the position of your bike in transition, although the end of the racks will be numbered to assist. Make note of any landmarks also to help!

Many athletes choose to let down their tyres overnight and pump them back up in the morning so you may wish to do this.

We’ll see you on race day!
